How to Host this Event:

1. Pick the Perfect Spot

Choose a sunny outdoor area like a courtyard, picnic space, or open lawn. Set up tables with tablecloths, umbrellas, and light dĂ©cor—think flower pots, watering cans, or garden tools.

2. Gather the Goods

  • Flower or herb plants for residents to take home (opt for low-maintenance options like lavender, mint, or marigolds)

  • Mini pots or biodegradable planters

  • Gardening tip signs/cards, Community garden reminder signs, and “Thanks for Growing with Us” signage to tie it all together. Members: Get all of this from our Canva pack!

3. Add Thoughtful Extras

  • Light refreshments like lemonade, iced tea, or garden-themed cupcakes

  • A DIY planting station where residents can pot their plant and add a cute tag

  • A short gardening Q&A, or printed tips for balconies and small spaces

  • Garden-inspired music or acoustic background playlist

4. Promote It Creatively

Use flyers, email blasts, and social posts with plant emojis and wording like:
"Let’s grow together—join us for an outdoor garden party full of fresh blooms, take-home plants, and neighborly cheer!"

5. Wrap It with Gratitude

Hand out the take-home plants with a tag that says:
“Thanks for growing with us—your presence makes our community bloom!”

This kind of event doesn’t just beautify the property—it builds connection, joy, and long-term resident satisfaction.

How to Get This Much HEART Into Your Events

Want to create resident events that truly spark joy (and maybe a few happy dance moves)? Here’s how to pack your community calendar with heart and make every gathering unforgettable:

🎉 Host Consistent Events
Building community takes more than a one-time taco night. Hosting events regularly gives residents something to look forward to and helps turn your property into a place people love to call home.

📣 Get the Word Out Early and Often
An amazing event is only amazing if people show up! Use flyers, emails, social posts—even chalk art if you're feeling bold. The more you remind residents (with excitement!), the more likely they are to come.

📊 Poll Your Residents
Not sure what kind of event will hit? Ask them! Whether it’s a quick digital poll or an old-school suggestion box, getting input ensures you’re planning something they’ll actually care about.

🌟 Keep It Fresh
Skip the same-old, same-old. Swap movie nights for popcorn taste-tests. Trade potlucks for paint nights. Try themes like "Donut Disturb" or "Succulent & Sip." Fresh ideas keep your turnout high and your residents curious.

👋 Break the Ice with Activities
Want to turn awkward small talk into actual connection? Give residents something to do while they mingle—think games, DIY stations, or collaborative crafts. When hands are busy, walls come down.

With just a little heart and creativity, your events can go from “meh” to “when’s the next one?!”
